Parenthood

Whoa! I took notes today at church and filled up two whole pages of my journal.  We just stated this brand new series called “Parenthood – how to not screw up your kids.” Haha.  I almost didn’t want to go to church because we just came back from camping this weekend and I was so tired the thought of putting Jaid in the car was almost to overwhelming.  Needless to say I am so glad we did because I got a lot of great advice tonight along with some relief.  Wait I’m not the only one scared of being a new parent?  I wasn’t the only one who thought “I might not make it through this?” Hahah! Not only was the message great but the intro video totally made me tear-up.  It’s so amazing I put it below. [evp_embed_video url= http://vimeo.com/70757827] I wish I could type word for word what was said but instead here are some of the highlights from the message:   Parenthood is gradually transferring dependency on you to dependency on God.  Growth is gradual we grow through troubles.  In life there isn’t an “if- troubles come” there is only “when troubles come.” God doesn’t save us out of our trouble but instead walks with us  through it....

You are Here

Have you ever had one of those moments when you start to think… wow I really thought I’d be farther along in life than I am right now? Or maybe in your case you think that about others. Come on we all do it… for example you walk into Burger King and there is a 35 year old women taking your order. What’s the first thing that pops into your head? Yeah that’s what I thought. Well my moment happened to take place a few years ago while I was working at Coldstone.  You see when I take a job I like to perform to the best of my abilities so when my manager told us we needed to get better at up-selling you better believe I was the best there.  Sometimes I would feel bad asking people if they wanted to add in extra globs of caramel and top it off with whipped cream but I never really thought to much about it until one day. There I was trying to up-sell a larger scoop of double chocolate ice cream to an extremely over-weight boy.  The moment I uttered the words “would you like to put that in a chocolate dipped waffle cone?” I was filled with such disgust!  The old fashioned health films we had to watch in school kept replaying over and over in my head and I kept feeling worse and worse.  It didn’t help that he had already gotten the most unhealthy ice cream we offered with extra scoops of chocolate chips and globs of peanut butter.  After he left I thought about it and realized I was helping contribute as well as becoming a major supporter for the obese children of Kitsap County.  The guilt began choking me inside and I knew I couldn’t take it too much longer… I quickly found a different job and gained some of my dignity back but I still remember that day as the motivating factor that made me step it up.  So my advice to you is if you’re in a similar situation where you thought you would be much father along than you currently are… change something and do it before you find yourself pushing extra calories on a chubby innocent...

Dutch Baby

I remember  when I was little my mom used to make “dutch babies” for us & they were my favorite.  Hot off the grill with a fresh squeezed lemon and powdered sugar.  Mmmm! Oh. My. Word. my mouth is litteraly watering just typing it! It makes me think about me and Jaid.  I wonder what recipes she will love or if she’ll remember things about me making them for her.  Right now all she is eating is homemade baby food but not to far away our mornings will turn from bibs and spit up to eating pancakes and laughing about cartoons.  At least that’s what I hope for. I found a really great recipe from Martha Stewart if you want it click the link...

Pinterest can be Tasty

Alright I admit it!  I basically use Pinterest just for food ideas now.  It’s amazing what great recipes you can find on there.  I saw an idea the other day to blow up tiny balloons and dip the ends of them in melted chocolate.  You wait for the chocolate to harden and then pop the balloon.  Now you have a perfectly good chocolate bowl to put ice cream in and eat it when you’re done.  I swear that’s one of the most brilliant ideas ever! I made a board on my pinterest account designated just to delicious recipes I’ve found and fun eatable ideas.  Check it...

There is a Time

There is… A right time to embrace, and another to part A right time to search, and another to count your losses A right time to hold on, and another to let go A right time to rip out, and another to mend Ecclesiastes...
